I am given to watching Firefly and its associated movie Serenity from time to time. The premise is intriguing and the characters have a peculiar charm. This is just the archive of various commentaries and criticism regarding the characters and some of the dynamics in Mr. Whedon’s little sci-fi western. While I have a grudging fondness for the program, I do not have a fondness for Whedon’s long list of clueless white guy mistakes. So I end up, uh, commentarying about them. Whee.

First up: The Mal/Zoe situation and how it is a post-civil war master/slave dynamic, even including marriage to Wash.

Joss Whedon can be too literal sometimes.
